So first they've changed word woman, then changed word lesbian, and now changed word homosexual.

It is clearly seen how homophobic and misogynic TQ+ really are.

They also added "TERF" and changed to definition 4 times now already due to protests of women

Soone it will be "Lesbian, or synonymous, TERF - almost like Hitler, but worse".

This is their way to stick their foot in the door. The true issue here is that unlike gay or lesbian, homosexual can not be easily undefined as of or relating to the same sex. Gay and lesbian are more cultural words so they can be manipulated. For some time now we've been driving the TQ+ crew crazy by using the exact terminology of homosexuality. They also dislike bisexual because it literally means both or 2 but they have been working with calling it 2 or more genders.

With homosexuality the word itself counters their narrative about genders and spectrums. Language also drives culture so as long as the word exists there will be a cultural understanding that gays are same sex attracted. If they can convince enough people that the word is offensive then everyone is forced into using nebulous and capricious gender based terminology which no one really understands.

It's the primary thing which TQ+ has been very good at. Manipulating language into a postmodern shit swamp to garner support and sympathy of the general public.

And the fact that this is happening so quick without most people realising it, that makes me worry. What if in future there is no grounds to argue with them because they will have "oh look! the meaning supports my rhetoric" argument to throw on your face? That is something that actually worries me. Also the younger gays and lesbians who will grow up learning that if they are homosexuals, they are a apart of something offensive.

These fools are hanging our language and our culture very quickly and very discreetly to center themselves around every situation, and there is not enough backlash.

Because the "average" person doesn't really know what the vernacular is. So if they're "corrected", they don't really know the difference. I mean all they're hearing in the media right now is "pronouns" this and "gender" that. It's not like anyone has a campaign running saying "hey, this is all bullshit". except maybe jkr.

Yeah, in fact in Orwell fiction words are used to manipulate people perception of the world. It's old propaganda way.

I saw "pronouns" for the first time for someone at work the other day and I fucking cringed. And, wtf do they need to list he/him, i would fucking hope no one would be a he/her, but it wouldn't surprise me given how ridiculously caught up in themselves they are.

First it was sometimes, now it's often. If isn't about a movement trying to erase our existence as homosexuals, I don't know what it is.Heteros can be heteros, bisexuals can be bisexuals, but we aren't fucking allowed to be homosexuals as it offensive.

[–]Three_oneFourWanted for thought crimes in countless ideologies 24 insightful - 6 fun24 insightful - 5 fun25 insightful - 6 fun -  (4 children)

So then what are we? We are a distinct category from heterosexuals, what term am I allowed to use to label myself as such?

Weirdly though you don't see the same reasoning about bisexual, pansexual or asexual.

Activist lexicography really must stop.

Very few people use the term 'homosexual' to cause offence any more. It's taken on a fairly neutral, clinical meaning to me (and others here too, I'm guessing). When one considers the litany of genuinely offensive homophobic words that exist ('dyke' for instance, is not listed on dictionary.com), it seems silly to add nonsense like this.

It's worth nothing, however, that they haven't changed the definitions of 'woman' or 'lesbian' to their woke translations, so we should perhaps temper our outrage somewhat.

[–]BEB 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I like to use "homosexual" now that the TQ+ crowd have taken and or destroyed the meaning of every other word that used to be used to describe actual gay people.

[–]jiljol 15 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 0 fun16 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

This is why you have to use legit dictionaries like Cambridge and Oxford. Even Merriam Webster changed the definitions of "female" and "male" to include nonsense like "gender identity".

People who still use homosexual are usually unaware that the term is a sensitive one,

Since fucking when is the dictionary allowed to be concerned with usages that are not common?

[–]Some-unoriginal-guy 11 insightful - 2 fun11 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I didn't know people's feelings could define words

[–]OPPRESSED_REPTILIANIntersex male | GNC | Don't call me "a gay", "twink" or "queen" 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I'd say "queer" "twink" "a gay" and more are actually closer to "disparaging and offensive", but apparently people have no problem throwing those around... at other people. So, it's offensive for me to refer to myself as "homosexual", but it's fine for someone else to refer to me as "a queer" or "a fabulous gay"?

This is beyond stupid.

[–]cutenoobies[S] 9 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Complain directly. Tell them this is abhorrent and disgusting. An attack on homosexuals. That no one gets to tell me the words I use to define myself are now 'unacceptable'.

Post to social media you have done so and encourage others to do the same.

Btw. Stonewall and GLAAD have done the same thing. I suggest the same approach is used.

This is VIOLENCE against US. Mention things like optics. And that you are going to social medias and the media companies as well.

If we ALL do this, our voices WILL be heard.

But we have to proactive. And be as big a pita as the TRA cunts who did this are. This is why they win. They are simply bigger assholes than us.

We are far to nice. Time for being nice has ended. If we do not stand up to be counted we WILL be erased.

[–]BEB 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yes, COMPLAIN. LGB are being literally erased and if you don't stop it now, it will be too late in a very short amount of time.

[–]BEB 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The people behind the TQ+ push are very well-funded and are changing laws under our noses in ways that will legally change the definition of "sex" to include "gender identity" so that "homosexual" will no longer mean people who are attracted to the same genitals and chromosomal makeup.

ACT NOW.

If you're in the US, call your Senators and Representative, say you're LGB and say NO to the Equality Act because it will erase HOMOSEXUALS as a distinct legal category, throwing HOMOSEXUAL rights into limbo, and making it impossible for HOMOSEXUALS to organize as a class.

US LGB - say NO to the Equality Act

[–]a_blue_bird 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

The only time I have heard someone say that ''homosexual'' is offensive is when male transsexuals complain that they aren't ''lesbians'' by this definition. So now because of them nobody can be homosexual, only a ''queer'', a ''bi lesbian'', and whatever other idiotic term they have substituted actual homosexuality with. Every day I hate TQ's more and more.

[–]Happy_face_caller 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Homosexual is a sexual orientation, it’s just a term. It’s not a slur unless it’s used as one but you can say that about any word lol

[–]artetolife 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Seems a silly thing to be upset about tbh. The media stopped using it many years ago to distance themselves from homophobic politicians and religious groups etc who WERE using it disparagingly, nothing to do with TQ. And really, how often does anyone use the word in every day conversation?

[–]cutenoobies[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The media may have stopped using it to distance themselves from the politicians and all, but it is a term that describes a person who is same sex attracted. How that is offensive? The concept of homosexuality is a common thing that binds lesbians and gays together. BY definition gay and lesbian means a homosexual man and woman respectively. It is not about using the word in every day conversation. We don't use a lot of words in everyday conversation. It is about the the power of TQs to have the meaning of words woman, female, gay and lesbian changed to center themselves so that all same sex phenomenon are removed.

[–]latuspodSuper Straight 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Words matter and we cant just go redefining them wildly Billy. They are trying this with gay, lesbian, woman. This is dictionary.coms entry for gay as a noun

"Usually Offensive. a person, especially a male, who is sexually attracted to members of that person's own sex"

Now if I am someone who hasn't been paying attention what am I going to think? What to we call gay men if both homosexual and gay are offensive? If woman doesnt just mean adult female human, and man doesnt mean adult male human, then lesbian and gay dont mean someone who is sexually attracted to the same sex. And now they are problemitizing homosexual. They are using language and definitions to deconstruct, confuse, obfuscate and then they can insert their Queer theory much easier.

[–]FrenchiePup 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Is bisexual disparaging and offensive as well?

[–]threefingersam 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Dictionary.com is disgraceful and regressive. The staff are really determined to 1984 all vocabulary related to LGBs.

Edit: I have sent a complaint to them too
