It makes me think of some lesbians saying that asexuality doesn't exists and we're closeted lesbians. Sorry but I truly don't like women or men...

This is a sentiment I've also seen here (and an the subreddit before it got banned, too). I get it - LGB and A are separate issues and that LGB people have enough of additional letters but that doesn't justify denying our existence in general.

I've been following skeptical accounts denying asexuality for years in hopes they have alternative answers for why I am the way I am. Asexuality is seen as a Tumblr invention (what doesn't surprise me) and I was on board ridiculing everything Tumblrish and I considered that maybe I fell for Tumblr trap as well. So I believed that maybe I'll find something what would accutately describe me, better than the asexuality label. There was never a good one. I have no mental illness or hormone imbalance. I quitted reading this because I have to admit it started to hurt me and make me feel bad about myself. I think I stopped doing this this year after 3 years. That wasn't healthy.

Fully agree. Do you have any suggestions for how we could be more welcoming here to asexuals? I try to call people out when I see them say stuff like that, but it seems like a topic that is goes generally unnoticed, I've only seen a thread or two about it.

To be fair I don't want you guys to also avoid calling out people, who really overuse this label to the point when you see an obvious mental gymnastic trying to justify someone is still asexual even if they really aren't like these sex-positive heteroromantic "asexuals" loving sex and initiating sex... But I guess it's like with bisexuality, some people fake it to be cool but it doesn't mean it's not real and made up. Just good enough not put asexuality with the whole TQ+ bullshit because I'm already tired that the only resources I can look for shove down my throat that TQ+ agenda.. or how asexuals I meet online are usually awfully woke.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. :) I'll keep that in mind.

That parallel is interesting. It definitely seems like there may be more people "faking it to be cool" for bisexuality and asexuality, than for being gay or lesbian for example. Which sucks because, as you said, those are real phenomena that people are co-opting for their own self-centered purposes. And I say 'self-centered' in a literal sense-- someone who attempts to change entire vocabularies and definitions of identities for their own purposes, is surely only thinking of themself.
