The Daily Mail is perhaps the most internally inconsistent newspaper in the UK. They’re ostensibly more to the right than the left, yet will cheerfully fly the identity politics flag if it’ll get them an outraged headline.

Sensationalism is their goal. At one point they were campaigning for state-supplied HPV vaccination in Ireland whole campaigning against it in the UK. The reason for this was because they were simply being contrarian against them government policies in these two countries.

They also rage against porn, or ‘filth’, yet a quick glance through the sidebar of their site shows that any glimpse of female celebrity skin gets a story. What’s most disturbing is their obsession with underage girls. There was criticism for the time they described Heidi Klum’s then 8 year-old daughter as a ‘leggy blonde’. They raised similar concerns when fawning over then 14 year-old Elle Fanning’s ‘womanly curves’.

I’d describe the Mail as a newspaper for moderately right-leaning paedophiles who are angry, don’t know why, and need a newspaper that tells them why they are angry.
