Traditionally viruses are named by the place of origin. Spanish flu, German measles, so it should be named China or Wuhan flu.

True, except that the Spanish Flu didn't come from Spain. Because of WWI various governments hushed up the truth about the pandemic to keep morale up. Spain was neutral, so they didn't.

It seems like something similar might happen now if various dictatorships around the world will try to hide the real numbers of flu victims so it will end up looking like the western countries were hit much harder.

So let's name it the Mexican flu then.

Spanish flu

Oh, they're working on fixing that one. From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_flu :

It has been requested that the title of this article be changed to 1918 influenza pandemic. Please see the relevant discussion. The page should not be moved unless the discussion is closed with a summary describing the consensus achieved in support of the move.

Corporate media links? Seriously?

Q: So who you gonna believe - the Chinese victims (potentially) with a large body count (allegedly) or your repressive government fostering panic, closing the economy, blaming a market crash on a virus, unleashing the military on its own citizens, taking away your rights, for who knows how long with no clear answers...?

A: Trick question. It's not either/or Us/Them. Remain skeptical about all of it and never stop questioning - all the way back to every foundational premise.

many others also reported it, go see for yourself. that doesn't change my point, which is that you posted mere speculation generated by the and originated from the chinese communist party..

I'm very well aware it's being reported. I'm also very aware it may be fake news and propaganda fearmongering mixed with real stuff. I don't buy into one side or the other. Both are totalitarians.

I'm keeping skeptical.

Maybe Trump is summoning him to fill him in on the scam.

look, it is simple:

the chinese pushed this conspiracy theory, nobody denies it (not even them).

the ambassador was summoned, nobody denies it (not even them).

what is your point.

Stay skeptical.

They're all the Wu Mao army. Either literally being paid 50 cents per propaganda post, or having corporate executives being bought by tens of thousands, if not millions, to spread CCP propaganda. Traitors, all of them.

[–]useless_aether 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Wu Mao army

thanks! til.

The name derives from the allegation that commentators are said to be paid ¥0.50 for every post,[3][4][5] though some speculate that they are probably not paid anything for the posts, instead being required to do so as a part of their official Party duties

so, literal propaganda slaves. yay, communism! :-)
