Disagreeing with people amicably is a skill and many people are not taught it. I think that this is a much bigger issue though. Modern society is producing a lot of people that are indoor cats to to speak. These folks are week and can be deeply hurt by words and ideas and need to be insulated from reality. This is a very bad trend and doesn't seem to be reversing. In fact our society seems to want to insulate and protect these people even as they cry out more and more.
