Being shown to be wrong is uncomfortable, particularly where a person is emotionally invested. Some people just can’t deal with that. It’s a lack of resilience and a deficit of curiosity. Disagreement is great! It’s how we learn.

Yeah, it comes down to critically evaluating the beliefs of others and our own. Anybody whose beliefs are defined by whoever they spoke with last or by what's currently popular is a child.
