I like to engage with people of differing opinions! Why don't others elsewhere?

To answer the title - because some ideas are truly retarded, and would not be defensible if debated - however, since many such ideas are supported by the establishment (which controls Reddit), anybody even suggesting debating those ideas simply gets censored and eventually banned.

And sometimes for the same reason but in reverse: It would be a waste of time to debate such a retarded idea, if it doesn't have such wide purchase.
