Can you go without sucking on a chemical teet for a few weeks?

You have to want to quit enough to overcome the unpleasantness of quitting. And smoking isn't all bad.
[Nicotine provides] protection against; (5) Parkinson's disease (6) Tourette's disease (7) Alzheimers disease, (8) ulcerative colitis and (9) sleep apnea https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/1859921/
Although what u/Hongkongphooey might want to do is get nicotine mints. All the goodness of nicotine, none of the risk of inhaling combusted plant material, or the testosterone reducing effects of vaping.

Thanks dude, hadn't heard of the mints. I'm perfectly happy with my nicotine addiction, I'd just rather it didn't make me any more physically unwell than I already am. Nicotine is far preferable to something like Wellbutrin which id probably need instead, and a doctor could just take away from me if they were feeling disagreeable or I didn't feel like paying my regular extortion fee for refills

It's more like a few months if you are talking about brain chemicals returning to normal levels, and no, I'm not terribly confident I would be successful

You just have to be a tetchy arsehole and shout at everyone around for the smallest things.
That's what my dad did when he successfully quit smoking anyway.
