The American Left just co-opted feminism, they aren't feminist ally. Neither are the republicans but it's much more easy to deal with their antics. TRA have successfully infiltrated some feminist movements and bamboozled other women to make them believe that men are women. It's much more cunning and an even greater threat, because it negates feminism all together. If men are effectively women then feminism loses all its meaning. TRA's goal is to kill feminism.

It's like these pimps who claim that doing porn is empowering to women, they are here to exploit women and enslave them sexually in the process, not empower them.

I read a book review of a biography of Sylvia Pankhurst last week and there was a big split back then as to whether feminists should ally themselves to the socialists. Emmeline called it "a collaboration with the patriarchy". The idea that feminists have always been part of the left is false (while radical feminism was created within Marxism).

In the US, it was the Left that fought for women's rights during the 2nd Wave. Not that there wasn't a huge streak of misogyny among Lefty men, but the Democrats were much more friendly to women's rights than the Republicans.

Please see my other posts - the Republicans have their own Equality Act (the FAIRNESS FOR ALL act) lined up and it's already in the US House.

So, while right now the Republicans are pretending to be allied with women, they already have bills in Congress to screw women over for the gender lobby. They're just waiting for us to vote GOP, and then the betrayal can commence.

Neither are the republicans but it's much more easy to deal with their antics.

Is it though? They're saying in the comments that the "feminazis" created this bill and some guy called California "the new Sodom and Gomorrah" (lmao). The right is not our friend, we're alone in this. They arrived at their superficially correct conclusion regarding the trans issue for the entirely wrong reasons.

I hate Donald Trump and I hate the current Republicans because they will have us all minimum wage slaves drinking foul water and food if we don't die of our pre-existing conditions first and or Donnie gets mad at China and launches a nuclear attack.

But why the fuck is it Breitbart, bastion of MAGAites- that is publicizing the Women's Liberation Front (WoLFs) petition to California Governor Gavin Newsom to veto SB 132 - the men in women's jails bill that just passed?

Why is every US mainstream media outlet, including "liberal" media outlets, on the side of destroying women's rights, safety and sports?

Because they have always hated women and only pretended to support us when it was fashionable and it was going to win them votes.

Now that there is a new, trendy category that also hates on women and is more pr-friendly, they are all for them and showing their true side.

Excellent questions :( The only answer I've ever found for it myself is that it seems like those on the left want to believe that we've solved sexism already and it's time to fight other battles. I think the truth of it - of how deeply ingrained sexism is in our society and how much most men hate women - is not the reality they're prepared to face.

[–]yishengqingwa666 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I don't buy that at all. THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. They are not clueless, uneducated people. They KNOW.

This.

Sorry, but I refuse to believe that people who are able to tie their shoes by themselves are not seeing and approving of what is happening. They are seeing it and either don' t care or actively supports it.

You are being way too nice giving them the benefit of the doubt. I am done with making that mistake: I don' t think they give a flying shit about women and never had, they have just found a way to do it in public and being praised for it.

[–]denverkris 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

^ This. I think the "woke" men are loving the fact that they get to both hate on women, AND get praised by a certain subset of women for doing it. It's disgusting.

It's because the left has moved so far left that it makes the republicans look like centrists.

And the obvious answer: you have no allies on the left. It's a sad truth. They can't even define what a woman is. And this is coming from someone who has voted with the left all her life but won't be voting that way anymore because where I live (Canada) we don't have women-only spaces anymore. We can't even profess our love for a famous woman on a billboard without censorship taking it down. If I accidently misgender someone I can be charged with a hate crime. They're planning on criminalizing conversations between parents and their children about transitioning (claiming that a single conversation counts as "conversion therapy"). They're criminalizing speech!! The left loves censorship, and this is coming to a policy near you if you let it.

Say what you will about Donald Trump, but at least he's standing up for free speech. If you don't have free speech, you can't meaningfully talk about anything. If you don't have free speech, you've got nothing.

edit: And I don't think the left is maliciously trying to be "evil" by trying to take our rights away... they legit think they're helping. They're trying to please everybody to the point where they're pleasing nobody.

[–]BEB[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Donald Trump does not stand up for free speech, nor do the Republicans - they stand up for speech they agree with.

I have lived through too many US presidents to remember easily, and I can tell you that the Republicans will shut down free speech as fast as the Democrats. The Democrats used to be the ones supporting free speech and women's rights.

And I agree with you completely about how Tranada is just becoming a shitshow in regards to fee speech, women's rights, parents' rights, children's mental and physical health, and science denial. It scares me, especially given Canada's reputation as a bastion for sanity.

[–]BEB[S] 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The Republicans have their own Equality Act lined up. It's called the Fairness for All act and it's in the US House.

So, I think at this moment, for political expediency the Republicans are going to feign outrage at the attack on women's safety and sports that the Democrats are conducting via Equality Act type legislation on the local and state level, but the minute the election is over, the Republicans will launch their own attack on women's rights/safety/sports.

So do not trust either party and certainly don't vote on this issue, because no matter who wins this election, women lose.

I constantly get told by TRAs that the studies/articles I post from conservative sources are INVALID.

Meanwhile, the liberal media ignores/buries any story that isn't 100% RAH-RAH-TRANS!

It's so fucked...

I don't know if many people read Breitbart, certainly not California politicians and probably very few California voters, but hey, I guess I have to applaud anyone getting the word out there because people who read it talk about it, and then people who don't read Breitbart hear about it -- I hope!

At the end of the day, all politicians crave money and power. Maybe a few local ones care about keeping your town's park funded or putting up a traffic light where a boy on his bicycle was fatally hit by a car -- I see that on occasion -- but overall, it's money and a power trip.

Politicians aren't going to save women. It has to be cultural. It has to be a huge shift in the culture. Who is controlling the culture? Hollywood? Woke universities? Internet tumblr stuff? How to create a pro-woman, sane culture?

It's a great tactic to distract from the real discourse. Neo-Liberals don't want people to deal with the issues that pertain them, while they are plundering the world. Whilst there are many social issues being discussed on a variety of fronts, they keep the money machine going. Apparently it's a common thing that in the last phase of empire's, the gender topic takes the limelight.

P.s. Outside perspective, not from the U.S..

It's going to bite the Democrats in the ass, because the extreme identity politics are making a lot of Progressives homeless and alienating independents.

But, as I keep saying, the Republicans don't actually give a shit about us, and will ride the ID politics disillusionment to victory and then screw us all.

[–]Comprehensive-Ad-579 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I don't really think they care anymore. It's good to be in the opposition, no responsibility but great fundraising grounds. It's great theater they play, all over the world. I wouldn't trust Republicans either, similar motives, but combined with a toxic ideology and fueled with religious vigilantism. I really wish you all the best of luck, it's a difficult decision, and they left you with no sustainable option.

[–]BEB[S] 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I guess, like people all over the world, it most often comes down to voting for the least toxic option.

However, I have never seen women's rights so under attack. We make up more than 50% of the population and yet, for whatever reason - stupidity? greed? misogyny? - both parties are willing to throw us under the bus.

[–]denverkris 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

I've been saying this for years, but as a GNC/Bisexual woman who's been a longtime member of the LGB, women have no friends in either party. Democrats wish to erase all women's rights by codifying into law that men can be women (see Canada for the disaster that will cause) and Repubs want all women pregnant and in the kitchen cooking them dinner. I'm leaning Libertarian, but i'm open to other options if there are any.

[–]BEB[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

I think the Libertarian candidate for president has also expressed support for gender ideology. I am almost positive about this, but will check and post here.

[–]denverkris 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

I have no issue with "supporting" trans people, I just don't want it codified into law. I believe it's already illegal to fire them or deny them housing and what not. I'm not sure it matters much anyway, businesses and women's orgs are already giving away women's rights and spaces anyway.

Here's the Libertarian Party platform on LGBT from its site.

I am almost positive that I saw video of Libertarian presidential candidate Jo Jorgensen voicing support for transgenders to be considered the sex they choose, but I can't find it.

"1.4 Personal Relationships

Sexual orientation, preference, gender, or gender identity should have no impact on the government’s treatment of individuals, such as in current marriage, child custody, adoption, immigration, or military service laws. Government does not have the authority to define, promote, license, or restrict personal relationships, regardless of the number of participants. Consenting adults should be free to choose their own sexual practices and personal relationships. Until such time as the government stops its illegitimate practice of marriage licensing, such licenses must be granted to all consenting adults who apply."

Ya, that sounds about right for libertarianism. Women are screwed.

[–]BEB[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I have many Libertarian tendencies, but then I think of what the results would be in real life and go NOPE.

Look at the Libertarians' platform: it does not take into account that allowing gender identity to have the same legal status as sex will completely screw women (and gay men).

And of course the Libertarian platform doesn't even use the word "sex" - so out the gate they've already discarded the reality of biological sex in favor of gender woo-woo.

[–]denverkris 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Ya. I feel politically homeless.
