In case anyone is not aware, this poor child is Kai Shappley, whose conservative Christian parents beat him for being feminine as a preschooler before ultimately taking him to a gender clinic and having him transitioned.

Kimberly turned to a DIY form of conversion therapy. She dressed Kai in camouflage and held her down to cut her blond hair into a flattop. Since most of the family’s seven children are boys—Kimberly has one adult daughter—there were no “girl toys” at home, but Kimberly asked the Christian daycare Kai attended to hide any baby dolls from her as well. When Kai turned her T-shirts into skirts or insisted she was a girl, Kimberly spanked her. When Kai asked for a Minnie Mouse birthday cake, Kimberly bought her one with Mickey.

“No matter how much punishment this kid got, you couldn’t beat it out of her,” Kimberly said. “You couldn’t pray it out, I couldn’t cast it out.”

Watched it yesterday and had no idea this storyline was included until the scene where the babysitter is looking at a closet full of boy clothes. I was shocked. Not because they included am this storyline but because the introduction was so obviously overdramatic. So a little boy like to wear princess dresses. So what? Now he's transgender. When he didn't want the blue gown at the hospital I legit yelled at the tv. Who cares what color the gown is!? You're in the hospital ffs. The color of the dye used for the gown should be the last of anyone's worries. The entitlement from that whole scene was awful. Bring on diversity but you don't have to include "wokeness" and preach to people, especially while using a child as your tool to push an agenda.

It really makes me so curious what the author of the books, Ann M Martin, thinks about all this. She's a lesbian and doesn't seem to fit into the stereotypical mold of femininity. The group of girls in the series has a diverse spectrum of personalities, interests, styles. Surely she thinks defining boys and girls based on whether they like princesses or wear blue vs pink is offensive?

She's also 64 years old. Her whole adult lifetime has been prior to this new trans movement.

Surely as the creator, she would have had to sign off on the content. Unless she sold the rights completely.

This is disgusting and should be illegal. It's literally like showing a FGM victim in a kids show and PROMOTING FGM by doing so.

Netflix is available all over the world - surely this sort of crap violated media ethics laws in a lot of countries? Why are politicians so spineless? Afraid of being accused of political incorrectness? Cowards and sell-outs everywhere.
