NIMBYism may apply to people who don't want power plants in their vicinity in general but nuclear power puts out less emissions than coal plants, so they're safer for people's health.

I think it's despicable that she (was probably pressured into) resigning over this. It's obviously a joke. Considering that women actually have had to deal with pharmacists choosing not to fill birth control or misoprostol prescriptions because of the pharmacists beliefs what's so bad about her joking about not filling an old mans prescription because of his beliefs? And how would she be able to tell the political views or voting history of her patients anyway, unless they literally walked in wearing MAGA hats?

I just find it suspect that women are typically the ones who are punished IRL the hardest when they make small gaffes especially online. Thinking about that woman who got fired after joking about getting AIDS while travelling to Africa too. You think the average man hasn't said or done things as bad or worse than that? and most of them don't get fired/ ostracized over it.

There was once a time when black women were not allowed to use the same restroom as white women, and clubs and other facilities were limited to white people only. Women of different races weren't allowed to intermingle. Obviously that was wrong. Now men who believe they are women think being kept out of women's spaces or having their "womanhood" denied is DISCRIMINATION just like women of a different race being kept out of women's spaces. I've also seen some TRAs say black women are "manly" so why can't their male selves be accepted in womens spaces too?

This is a very important point. The other day I read the two spirit wiki entry after someone else brought up Two spirits in this sub. It seems like it's pretty controversial in native communities. A quote- "While this new term has not been universally accepted—it has been criticized as a term of erasure by traditional communities who already have their own terms for the people being grouped under this new term, and by those who reject what they call the "western" binary implications, such as implying that Natives believe these individuals are "both male and female" is a pretty scathing indictment of transgender appropriation.

Look at the "traditional indigenous terms" section. Pretty much every definition is "acts/ looks like a man/woman." ACTS. They didn't believe those people actually WERE real women or men. Not like transgender people today are insisting. You can't use two spirit people as a historical "proof" that transgender people always existed.

In a society in which women are routinely starved for the benefit of men, no man is going to dabble in the delusion that he is 100% well and truly a woman, with no differences whatsoever.

I don't know why June is surprised. A lot of Christians think their bodies were "made by God" so to reject your birth sex is to reject God's "plan" for your life. Some dude could be chilling in the corner just waiting for an unattended child to come in to pounce but nobody would be able to legally do anything if he SAYS he's a woman. Unless the property owners decided to call the cops for a loiterer. Which probably wouldn't be the highest priority for police.

If you've ever worked in retail before, I'm sure you've heard stories of thieves who roll big ass TVs out the door, and when verbally confronted by staff they say "you can't stop me" and keep going. Because they KNOW the security guards can't and won't put hands on the thief to stop them. I used to work at a big box store so I've heard of several cases like that.

Self ID will cause that to happen. Except with male perverts in the bathroom. "You can't stop me." And legally, we won't be able to.

Not to highjack your comment, but this is something I've thought too, but not necessarily exclusive to sports or related to disabilities. I wouldn't give two shits about trans people if they realized that being trans was their cross to bear. I wouldn't care about trans women if they stayed in male specific spaces and didn't try to claim they were actually "women" or "female." If they accepted the possible stares or jeers when they went in the mens room was something they would just have to live with and get over if they wanted to transition, they would be fine. Instead they want to live their fetish AND put women in more danger by doing so. Which obviously earns them a lot more contempt and pushback than if they were going about things the other way.

Life's not fair and life sucks for a lot of people for a lot of reasons. Trans people are making it even harder for us to accept them by INSISTING that the whole of society drastically re-arrange and redefine itself so they don't have to bear the slightest hit to their ego/ emotions, while they get EVERYTHING THEY WANT as well!
