    That's homophobic ...

    Yes, it is.

In most societies with 3 gender, 3rd gender is gay men mostly, sometimes just gender non-conforming men.

Same with Iran - they are transitioning gay men to transwomen, so "they will become straight women instead of homosexual men".

I was born in USSR, and in USSR homosexuality was against the law as well (in many homophobic countries trans acceptance is high, but homosexuality is hated), and sometimes similar practices were used as well - social and surgical transition of gay men against their will "to become straight woman". I was once prosecuted for suspicion that I am a gay man. If I was "caught" or "suspected" one or two more times - that would happen to me too.

    do you agree with that?

Obviously not. And as gay man - even stronger not.

However, it is "gender is social construct and gender must replace sex" topic that is very often raised by trans activists, including in /r/gendercynical.

I heard russia is that bad when it comes to its treatment towards gay men.

It was USSR, not Russia. Russia is bad towards gay men, but not as bad as was USSR. Today people are more agressive towards gay men, thought. Previously people believed it is a disease and we are poor people who are suffering with our "wrong" attraction and need fixing so we can finally be reliefed, so many acted out of pity. Later they were trying to make all paedo cases to be prosecuted on homosexual people, even USSR slurs to call homosexual people ("peedor" and "pedik") are shortened version of word "pederast", at that point people were hating homosexual people "for raping young boys and girls". Nowadays people watching propaganda and thinking that homosexuality is something you can learn and that it is USA who is attacking with homosexual propaganda to destabilize Russia, so people are acting more agressively. However, laws themselves are not as strict as were in USSR. To my luck, I am not living in Russia since USSR dissapeared.

There was funny situation, when icecream company "Rainbow" was prosecuted as "homosexual propaganda", so they changed name and logo.
