Will this dimming allow people to see that stars? I'm also country and being in cities even for a few days makes me feel gross. That orange glow and lack of stars at night is the worst bit.
I genuinely think that's part of what's wrong with the world. The stars don't change relative to human time so we see the same ones as our ancestors and our descendants. Outside of the cities, rich and poor get exactly the same view of them. They show us that we're a tiny speck of warmth in an infinite and indifferent void. They give us a daily reminder of the bigger picture, in both time and space, and our unavoidable connection to each other. Without that your focus naturally becomes more immediate and selfish.
