Germany plans to dim lights at night to save insects

Might not be a bad idea if the lights are adversely affecting them. Insects are a very important part of our ecosystem. We really shouldn't have tightly packed dense cities to begin with.

I have to say dong_master, I agree with you about the cities. It's crazy to me that people even want to live like that.

I moved to a rural area to escape the big city madness, traffic insanity, etc. Best move ever. I'm a half block from a river and a woods with deer, if things ever get horribly dystopian. Big city people will be eating each other, if things go completely dark.

Will this dimming allow people to see that stars? I'm also country and being in cities even for a few days makes me feel gross. That orange glow and lack of stars at night is the worst bit.
I genuinely think that's part of what's wrong with the world. The stars don't change relative to human time so we see the same ones as our ancestors and our descendants. Outside of the cities, rich and poor get exactly the same view of them. They show us that we're a tiny speck of warmth in an infinite and indifferent void. They give us a daily reminder of the bigger picture, in both time and space, and our unavoidable connection to each other. Without that your focus naturally becomes more immediate and selfish.

They do that where I live. But here they do it to save money. I'm sure the reason in Germany is exactly as altruistic as they say.

Camera's unable to see migrants rape, can't see patriots attack migrants either, u/Dr_Bukkake. Germans! What is your profession!?

That should help the migrant rape problem.
