I think this will blow over. It’s obviously a smear campaign.

We'll know for sure if he gets deplatformed with no charges filed.

I don't think we'll see either.

Pay-out?

Neither de-platforming or charges.

It will get worse first.

More women have come forward.

Having slept with a thousand or so women, it would be truly surprising if dozens don't come forward to take a piece of his pie after 20 years.

One of them is saying he jumped on her and tried to take her clothes off so she screamed.

Then he stopped and kicked her out.

Not nice but not exactly damning either.

One of them was 16, delivered from her school to Brand in a BBC-funded limo. UK TV licence fee subscribers paid for that.

Which isn't illegal in the UK.

Doesn't necessarily matter in this case.

Also: the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 2000 prohibits a person in a position of trust from performing sexual acts with someone who cannot consent, which includes minors and "very vulnerable people". It is primarily used for the protection of those who are above the age of consent but under the age of 18.

Yes, I know of it.

That covers teachers but not famous people. It doesn't even cover actual bosses who employ kids and control their wages.

Though I refer especially to the concerns of the so-called 'court of public opinion' (for better or worse) rather than courts of law, the legal matter discussed in Saturday's Channel 4 documentary is this statute that legally prohibits any "person in a position of trust from performing sexual acts with someone who cannot consent, which includes minors... for the protection of those who are above the age of consent but under the age of 18." A good lawyer in a civil suit could develop arguments that the 16-year-old did not understand consent in that particular situation, building a case of grooming, manipulation &c. Regardless, Brand's mainstream brand is not surviving the court of public opinion because the various allegations show that he's been a sexual predator. He'll continue to have a large conspiratard audience, because many of them lack a moral compass. But he's no longer welcome in the mainstream, IMO.

That's usually the case where the offender is in a direct position such as a teacher with their student, a doctor with their patient. It isn't usually a stranger in a high position, where would you draw the line?

Yes, want of understanding is also used in annulment of marriage where the partner is mentally incapable of comprehending the nature and effect of the situation, although moreso in cases of intoxication and mental illness.

It will be interesting to hear what actual evidence shows up beyond hearsay. No doubt there will be something more than alleged groping eventually.

I re-read the text message evidence.

It seems to me to be a case of stealthing. She was terrified because she thought he gave her aids and that's why she went to the hospital the next day. I'm guessing the hospital records will show tests and not much else. But it's still circumstantial evidence.

Now that counts as rape in Sweden, as Assange found out, but not in the USA or UK.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It amazes me he didn't end up with a few dozen kids.

Interestingly Sweden has the statute of limitations with historical accusations which we do not, but so too, Assange learned that legislation didn't count when they wanted to go after him.

The notes at the Rape Treatment Center say that she said that she didn't want to press rape charges because

she “didn’t think my words would mean anything up against his”. The notes also state that “she was worried that, if her assailant’s name is somehow released, then her name will be dragged through the dirt”.

All of his events and shows already got cancelled.

[–]Canbot 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

Brand is too polular with liberals. He is uncancellable. He speaks the language of emotional manipulation.

Also his current audience are not people who will read the Times or watch broadcast TV. They are in a separate bubble. They won't read the article or watch the documentary. They will get a second-hand account from someone who agrees with them on everything and believe that.

Just wait until the redditfags find out all the women he slept with had VAGINAS, they'll have a meltdown and will need therapy in their safe space.

I don't know why you'd assume all, he does seem a little fruity.

in addition to the numerous worldwide invasions that are taking place, influencers of all flavors are being discredited and destroyed.

mr russel brand is scheduled to be destroyed, nothing more nothing less.

the charges against him are fabricated.

I'd argue that he was disowned by the British left-wing for going too left-wing for them. He went full retard after rehab and found god, and didn't seem to know how to stay relevant so tried to align his anti-establishment idiology to the popular party of the left, Labour. Until he started pushing for a revolution and telling people not to vote for anyone, which the losing Labour party couldn't allow, they needed votes. It almost looks like the goalposts are being shifting again in the media by refering to this extremely liberal person as a friend of the alt-right. If you don't agree with the destruction of Russell Brand, they'll say you're an alt-right Nazi.

I doubt he raped anyone, he used to be at least hot and get women throwing themselves at him. But I think the only reason that he in recent years started doing conspiracy type podcasts and anti vax stuff instead of doing comedy or acting for his money is that there's actually more money in that. Like Alex Jones makes more money than Leo Dicaprio. Russell wanted some of that. Plus it's easy.
