Mr. Dink on Doug was a play on this term, he always had money for stuff that was "very expensive" and he and his wife had no kids. That was in 1991

Bud Dink was a not-so-secret pedophile and we all knew this.

But yeah, I guess you're right. Like "simp" though, the term has made a comeback after 40 or so years, and I wasn't aware of that.
