Why do we pretend looks and to a lesser extent iq aren't the most important factors that determine the quality of your life?

Our schools and media brainwash us that hard work and being a good citizen is the only thing that matters but it's bullshit. If you're a 5'2 balding indian janitor no matter how hard you try 6'4 white chad will have a way better life than you even if he's a criminal and a douchebag.

For IQ:
Because potential does not equal success, and it's against the law to discriminate based on less changeable traits like IQ.
For Looks:
Everyone knows looks matter. It's a given.
