What do you miss about Reddit?

I basically agree with you, OP. That's probably the biggest problem for now. The only way to change that is to post more things that aren't just related to topics like free speech or politics. Oftentimes it only takes a few little nudges for an interesting conversation to happen or some activity in a community. More cute cats, interesting art, music, architecture, fandoms, etc would help prevent this site from ghettoizing itself as a perpetual reaction to Reddit and instead turn it into a proper community in its own right.

Exactly! That's what I'm slowly trying to do. Can you recommend any existing light subs that can use more cute or funny things? Or generate good discussion?

s/music already has some activity but could do with more. This may sound kinda silly, but I think it may actually be best to just look at all the most popular subreddits for inspiration. I don't know if Saidit has any communities at all related to cute animals yet for example, but if somebody made one, I'd sub for sure!
