Now if you say that the government is wiretapping your phone, no one cares.

How can Americans sleep at night now or look in a mirror without feeling disgusted and ashamed?

If we don't pay our yearly property tax, the government threatens to take our house and property. They currently only accept the US dollar. But that will soon go away, and then everyone will be required to use the mark of the beast. That will result in another kind of jail: the forfeiture of the soul to God's adversary: eternal bondage with no freedom at all. Jesus provides the only way of escape.

You gave one example of a good use of tax money: to have working roads for the transport of people and goods.

Taxes also fund the military so they can attack other nations, resulting in death, injuries, and destruction. Taxes also fund Planned Parenthood, so women can kill the unborn (abortions). Taxes also fund the so-called COVID vaccines, and many have given their testimonies on how those injections have killed and injured many. And of course, someone has to pay off the interest on all the federal debt. But if you think we should pay taxes, I would not argue against that, since even the Lord said:

Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's, and give unto God what is God's.

Ironically, those Americans who work hard but get paid minimum wage, often make too little to be required to pay any income taxes. I myself paid no income taxes last year because my income is too little, but yet I live very comfortably, thanks to God. I did pay other taxes, though: property tax, sales tax, and the yearly tax on my cars (for the sticker on the license plate).

Incorrect, taxes are what pay for the roads and other public services we all depend on. Everyone agrees to pay via the social contract!

I wonder if it will be effective at lowering the price of housing. Something needs to be done, and "the market" clearly is not working on people's favor.

Agreed. The government should not have any secrets other than short term military operations. Anything that happened over a month ago should be readily available to the public.
