Your view that people can be split into good and bad and that you can simply avoid the latter is simplistic.
You often can't even really judge a person's character until they're in a difficult situation for one. How would you even know to avoid them?
Say you see a person (A) return a wallet with $300 untouched to its owner. That's something a good person does, but if the person has no desperate need of the money, they haven't really been tested.
And say you have person B who steals the money because they're behind on their car payment and without a car they can't work and if they can't work their family will end up on the streets.
Persons A and B can be the same person in different circumstances. One appears bad, one appears good even though they're the same.
