I am against cyanobacteria starting to produce oxygen as a byproduct of photosynthesis during the Siderian period 2.33 billion years ago. It was a bad idea then and this pollution leading to oxygen being utilized as a final electron acceptor in more and more complex versions of eukaryotic life is a bad idea now, and has lead to all of the problems we face today!
