I mean the guy vandalized the bakery. If he's committed a crime, he's going to have to expect punishment for it. Even in this kind of circumstance.

What would be a far better tactic to deal with this kind of thing would simply be to have a number of concerned community memebrs of adult age to attend this event, and report any and all sexually inappropriate behavior to the police after the fact so those responsible can be detained.

This shuts down the event but leaves the Bakery looking like the victim and the potential pedophiles free and clear.

A far more effective strategy to deal with these is to simply have a number of people attend with a notepad and a pen to document the activity. Their mere presence will be enough to set off anyone with untoward motives and will not result in the bad optics and legal shield that illegal activities such as vandalism provide.

Rememeber the ultimate goal isn't to stop this particular event. It's to keep children safe everywhere. If these people know they are being watched carefully and will be caught if they attempt to do anything to the children they will move on. Do not give the media an angle to demonize your side. Keep things on the offensive by keeping them on the defensive.

Words create laws.

They should make a law against killing people, or maybe against raping children even!

They should and do. This is hardly controversial. Surely you are not advocating for an absence of murder laws?

Jury nullification is still legitimate if a crime was committed (illegal action). Explicitly.

Infact, that's the purpose of jury nullification.

Jury nullification is intended to protect people whose actions have been criminalized by law, but whom the jury sympathized with and agree that the crime is acceptable; given the defendant's circumstances, etc.

The courts don't allow nullification to be discussed by the jurors, because they want to control the jurors actions.

Jury nullification is probably the last opportunity for direct action by the public in the legal system.

Nullification has another meaning now.
