Attacking the civilian population = terrorism

Attacking the state = I don't know, it's a stupid thing to do, but not terrorism

Hey, I don't disagree with you on any of the above. I just think we use the word "terrorism" too loosely these days. Of course the FBI would expand the meaning, they've been doing that since 2001.

Terrorism specifically used to mean control through fear. Like when a bus explodes, I don't think you'd stay and wait for the next one. Hence, it's not so much about the one bus, but about never knowing when or where the next one will strike. The lack of any ability to confront your attacker directly is what makes something terrorism.

This rioting was all those things you said. But it was also very overt, and that's not terrorism. It was an unhinged mob. Completely disorganized lunacy. But not terrorism.

It is organized. TheDonald.win has people organizing these riots with prior plans of violence. They even had a truck full of bombs and guns that were prepared if they were able to take over the capitol.

You are trying really hard to narrow the definition of a terrorist to avoid the label.

You could say it was encouraged, absolutely yes. But that shit show certainly didn't look organized. I don't think they even expected to even get as far as they did.

Here Bret summarizes my thoughts on "terrorism" pretty well: https://youtu.be/lGlrjmIalJY?t=3741

I'm trying to be specific, because it matters. Do you have a source on the truck full of bombs and guns by the way?

I appreciate the conversation. Be well.
