The whole identity politics idea is doomed to create racism. We have enough research to show that making race more salient encourages division by race. Threatening the group identity, as in treating white people like they are monsters, causes people to react in defence of their shared identity. Most of this research was performed by researchers who very much did not want this outcome. There’s been a lot of work to try to understand how to make multiculturalism work, and none of it recommends raising minorities above all others. The same effects apply with sex and sexual orientation.
