I think more importantly we need to see money as a tool, rather than a life goal.

Similar to ego. Some people try to rid themselves of ego, but this is a fools errand. Ego is like a horse you can domesticate to do useful work.

I think trying to rid yourself of money is similar. It's theoretically possible, but in reality we just need money to be a useful tool, like a hammer or a car, rather than something we endlessly chase. We need to know when we have enough, but our cultural addition to consumerism keeps us on the treadmill, and then we spend our lives working to pay for things we never needed or really even wanted in the first place.

Which comes down to greed, I think. We have to learn to temper our greed, but society and media in the US often praises consumerism in order to drive the economy so they can make the most money.

What's worth more than money? Time? For me money is still the #1 motivation sadly, hard to escape that.
