I’ve read that Maclura pomifera (Osage orange and a few other names) is great for making bows and that the native Americans used to trade bows of this wood. It’s only possible to make the bow from a fresh cutting because once it’s dried, it’s too hard. I’ve watched arborists destroy blades trying to cut the trees down.
