My anxiety started the same year (shortly after) I was given a smart phone out of pity. (I always just had an old flip phone. )

Today I still have smart phone but I am in the habit of leaving it behind a lot. If I'm in my office playing games with the boys I'll leave the phone in the kitchen. If I'm watching TV I'll leave it in the bedroom.

I get the benefits of the smart phone, you just need to be able to unplug from it for the majority of your day to stay sane.

nomophobia (no mobile phone phobia)

Nomos means a body of law in Greek and indeed, Wiktionary defines nomophobia as a fear of laws, that's a sensible definition. The definition that the author propagates is probably made up by a teenager. It's moronic that people take such things seriously.
