If the ice caps melt, what happens... THE WORLD GETS COLDER. Because ice is cold and even just molten ice is still really fucking cold. The reason why the ice caps are melting a bit is because of an increase in particle flux from the Sun. It hits the Earth at the poles, and thus melts the ice. Not by heating up the planet, but just by heating up the ice a little.
