I believe that we all deserve the means to easily repair our own devices. It's what drives companies like System76 and Pine64.

The circumstances are a bit different, but it's great that they've been able to do that. Seems like things back then were made to last.

Just another lie-cheat-steal corp. that I used to think was god-like. Now it's Chinese.

Louis Rossman on YouTube is a hero. The Apple is rotten.

It's bad for us, but whether or not it's unfortunate, Apple still has the best computer OS available. So what are we going to do, support Bill Gates and his extermination plans just because he has the cheapo option? Go even cheaper with linux and spend the rest of our lives tinkering to try to get it to work?

I think we need more people putting out their horror stories with apple service and repair. We need laws that protect people who draw up schematics and make replacement parts. You don't need to force Apple to release repair information or help. You don't need to force them to make everything open source. All we need to do is protect those who will develop third party repair equipment.

The car manufacturers do the same thing with their software. There still exists many aftermarket manufacturers who sell replacement computers for tuning. The car manufacturers do everything they can to lock their software down and still the after market has it figured out within months of a new release.

We need laws that specifically exempt repair technology from copyright and patent laws.

People refuse to buy $1200 phones if you can simply swap out the batteries. That's why they don't like it.
