The source of this photo says only one launch was successful, but there was a second launch mentioned, which failed.

I know people who seem to pride themselves on hating cats. I love cats (and life in general) and can't imagine myself subjecting cats to this kind of torture. I would feel so much guilt. I feel sad for these animals. Some would argue that we need to test on animals to make sure people are safe in space, but we don't need people to go into space.

Who? The cats?

Yeah, what was the motive of France to launch cats off the earth? Perhaps they wanted to see if there was any chance of living beings surviving. If it worked, they could take more risks and send men. Sometimes that worked, but some men also died.
