The press was reporting on the scale of the Mango Mussolini's fraud throughout the trial as evidence was presented.

It's not remotely absurd. Anyone who's been following the case has seen the evidence.

If trump appeals, it doesn't look like he will do it on the grounds that he didn't commit the fraud.

His defence, if he attempts it will be because his victim was the bank, and they happened to get paid back as they would have if he had been a smaller risk.
