Statistically, San Francisco is the 37th most violent city in the United States.

Which is high, but also behind Dallas, Oklahoma City, KCMO, Wichita, Cincinatti, Tulsa, Nashville, Indianapolis, and Memphis.

"The dude saw a violent crime" is not somehow "proof" that San Francisco is a hellhole. A lot of people have seen a violent crime. I know I have. I wasn't in San Francisco, either.

The statistics are BS. San Francisco doesn’t report most of the crime that occurs. I used to love that city. I won’t go there any more. It’s gotten way worse than a few years ago. I saw whole blocks of shattered glass where every car on the street was broken into. And I’m used to ghettos. I lived in bad parts of NYC when they were really bad. The thing about SF is that it’s not just the danger. It’s fucking disgusting. There’s literally shit and drug paraphernalia everywhere. Dope sick junkies nodding out on fent or going apeshit on meth. Go there and tell me how wonderful it is. There’s a reason everybody is leaving including businesses.

I've been there at least 50 times. I wouldn't call it a paradise, but I've never felt any particular degree of fear there. And there's plenty of fun stuff to do - concerts, museums, restaurants, whatever you're into.

Sure, they have a homeless issue. A lot of cities do, but most of them force their homeless out somewhere to the outskirts of town. In my own town, our encampment is behind the freeway and only really visible to people who travel by train. It's huge, though.

San Francisco, well, it doesn't really have an "outskirts." It's boxed in by water and the whole area is heavily developed. There's nowhere to hide the homeless.

I don’t know when the last time you were there but I went a year ago and it was worse that before. But if you love it there by all means enjoy. I’m not really scared there or pretty much any where as I’ve dealt with scary situations since I was a kid but it is fucking nasty there. And I wouldn’t drive a car there any more either.
