We just need some modern day McCarthy trials to root out how hopelessly corrupt some of these people are.

the mccarthy was about traitors in the US government and even though mccarthy allowed himself to be turned into a clown, he was actually right -- official Soviet records made available after the fall showed they had many operative there in our government

so not ordinary corruption, but those who sell the country out and betray it

I recall that Dante in The Inferno reserved the deepest pit in hell for betrayers

Yeah, history totally vindicated McCarthy. He was perhaps a little overzealous but just as they once rooted out commies, I don't see why we don't do corruption. We see these politicians balloon their wealth, they're doing it right in front of us.
