And here I thought the Trump indictment was done to distract from the news about all the money the Xidens got from China. Boy was I fooled.

As much as I wish he'd go away and enjoy retirement, I'm afraid Trump is still extremely relevant to politics. He is the front-runner for his party's presidential nomination. There are millions of people who never voted for anyone before Trump and will never vote again once he's gone.

At the same time, people who are deeply disappointed with biden may vote for a republican but would never vote for Trump because of the years of conditioning by the media. We need a conservative that has more of an appeal to the libs that are looking to leave the increasingly insane left.

I agree. The Republican Party has been putting some really shitty candidates on the ballott... Herschel Walker, David Vitter, Trump post-2020, etc.

Maybe it's a generational thing, but things like this, GDPR, "net neutrality," etc. have never excited me. I just don't think people have a fundamental right to a computer network the way they have rights to self-defense, freedom of conscience, etc.

That said, if the goal is banning TikTok (and I think we should), then the bill should be more specific about that. Or hey, if it's a national security threat, just bomb the motherfuckers without passing a damned thing.

Problem I have is that it feels like patriot act all over again. They play the foreign scare tactic and all that and say we need to ban the foreign influence. But while I don't give a shit about TikTok, this does strike me as a way to essentially force a kind of domestic monopoly on the social media market. Most of the issues with TikTok also exist with Facebook and all the rest, the only difference is who controls it, and the US government hates competition.

Really the best thing to do is for everyone to stop using TikTok and social media in general I think. Go back to email lists maybe? Or just start your own damn website.
