This applies to lower crimes, NOT murder for the sake of murder.

Someone goes to jail, reforms and gets out or it was a one time thing with that being the only thing on their record. If it's a felony, that will follow them forever and if its a Misdemeanor, up to 7 years, sometimes longer.

Now, you get out. You have no money, no address, nothing. You try to apply to a job. The only jobs that will take you are essentially shitty under the table jobs that abuse you and fuck you over on pay. You can try to apply to regular jobs but you have a massive job gap, oh in prison? No thanks.

The American system is not set up for rehabilitation. It's set up specifically to push for reoffenders, can't make money if we are rehabilitating.
