There could be reasons not shared the parents wanted the trials, like immunocompromised family. I hope. Using your kids in medical trials unnecessarily sounds insane.
But still, don't parents have that right? That's a big issue coming up for the GOP, parent's rights is going to be one of their talking points.

Kids aren't generally at risk though.
Beyond that, the vaccine we have generally doesn't work for the current variants. It performed pretty poorly against Delta, and it's shown negative efficacy against omicron.
The T Cell issue could become a serious problem for the kids in the future though.
I don't see any benefit of this.
