The attack was approved and funded by the U.S. The news of the war was heavily suppressed. Journalists inside East Timor were killed. East Timor survived and killed many indonesian forces and took their guns. The war lasted until about 1999 when Australian forces helped liberate East Timor. Two Thirds of East Timor's population was killed.

Before the attack, killings and rapes, East Timor asked the UN for help and to recognize their indepedence. The UN told them they were a "backward" country. A meaningless insult. This is because the UN is and has always been a corrupt and criminal organization.
