Ma and Pa franchise owners are not going to like this. They'll have to compete.

He also introduced a law to give small business employees making less than the median wage a tax credit, but I don't know if that'll offset it enough.

Regardless, they have to compete anyways, and I'd rather give them a choice. A lot of small businesses simply can't pay $15 an hour or they'd go under, so this is a necessary evil to prevent closures. Large companies already use bonuses and higher pay to lure employees away from small businesses.

Some companies, like Walmart, lower prices so much they lose money, kill off all the small businesses in the area, and then raise prices to more than they were before.

Perhaps eventually we can replace the minimum wage with a UBI, though, but I don't think we can cover the cost right not.

Every franchise owner that I know has 1 or more vacation houses and drives new luxury cars. They are cheap because they were able to get away with it until now. Paying $15 an hour means fewer vacations and waiting another year for a new car. They don't like that.

Like McDonalds franchise owners? I think they have to pay $15, but I don't know how it's worded.

LOL, no they don't.
