should be simple

So checking off one box beside each candidate you care about is too complicated?

whoever gets most votes wins

That's how favorability voting works; the only difference is that you can vote for or against as many candidates as you want, rather than being forced to fully support only one. A "for" vote is +1, an "against" vote is -1, and the candidate with the most votes wins.

just have it open and free and not rigged

That's impossible under FPTP, since it creates a corrupt, two-party system where voters are forced to choose the 'lesser evil.' If both parties are corrupt — which they are — you can't vote out corruption.

just no need to complicate it. put down the choices, let me vote for who I want

why complicate it, give one good reason

Did you read the article — or even my comment?

Popper's comment says it all. He clearly didn't read the article or worst yet did and totally did not comprehend it. Either way he felt the need to comment. He is a perfect example of the average voter.

While he most likely could understand favorable voting he will never take the time nor understand the importance of why... and that is the most prevalent issue we have with democracy...

My mother-in-law voted for justin trudeau in the recent canada election. Not because of his $10 a day day care, or his standing on LGBTQ, or his fiscal policies but because "he's sooo handsome!" ...I rest my case...

Modern society is doomed.

nah just stop rigging votes and it'd work fine. this ranked choice idea, if votes are rigged as usual, will be just as bad.
