Yes, I can see how this can be disconcerting, to import values held in other countries, and could argue that someone living in China, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq, Israel, Brazil, the Philippines, Singapore, India or Myanmar might love the authoritarian leadership in those countries, and would want to vote for an authoritarian system in the US.
