That's because the system in which they were created has molded them into intolerant, closed-minded, brain-washed, fearful, hypocritical little sheep.

Personality traits predict political affiliation. (Caveat: generalities exist. To believe no one is an exception makes you a bigot. To believe everyone is an exception makes you an idiot.)

Emotional sensitivity and proneness to negative emotion are high on the left, low on the right. People on the left are more likely to get upset when experiencing unpleasantness, and they experience higher levels of upset when they do.

Social psychologists even have a name for it (the happiness gap), and it's probably why the left can't meme. It's also probably why incidence of mental illness is WAY higher the further left you go politically.

Rule consciousness is high on the right, low on the left. Here's where you run into the whole, "if it weren't for double standards, the left would have no standards at all."
