You answered your own question.
Am I afraid to catch Covid-19? No. Do I want to catch it. No. Am I a little concerned that I could catch it and transfer it to an older relative? Yes. While I'm in public I wash my hands, don't touch my mouth, eyes, or nose unless I have just washed my hands. A seemingly healthy person could have an underlying, unknown health condition that could be further affected by Covid-19 or influenza or even a common cold. Just because I am not "running scared" doesn't mean I don't know a little about biology and germs. I was careful around or avoided contagiously sick people before this virus and will do so after this has passed. Natural selection is also about people being smart enough to stay healthy and get treatment when they are sick.

you've always been like that during flu season? Or is this a new thing?

Always aware, but more diligent now, due to this being more contagious, albeit less dangerous on the average person.
This pandemic has most definitely been used as a political tool and has been made to seem more of a "crisis" than it was, but ignoring it is throwing out the baby with the bath water. One can fight the abuse of power while still adhering to science and common sense.

I see your point. It does build up your immune system being exposed to germs. A problem is the viral load. You don't want to get a strong exposure so the virus overtakes your body before your immune system can do it's job. Also, being outside more is better for your immune system, whether you're around other people or not.
