If I thought my children would have a better opportunity in another country I wouldn't really care about that other country's laws over my family's well being.

This is why we need a punitive system to keep the costs high for crossing the border illegally, otherwise more will come. I'm not sure what the solution is, but maybe imprisonment with hard labor for offenders and Israeli levels of border security. Also sanctions on Mexico to pay for each offender. They really should be doing more to prevent their citizens from border jumping.
