Isn't unemployment paid into and adjusted for the individual? Making it a little different from welfare.

That's my layman understanding. If these dudes are going to take 1/3 of everything I earn, I expect them to cover me for a couple of months between jobs.

Depends where you live.

In the UK you get the same rate no matter what you earn.
