He loves Polanski's films and justifies any sins because the man is admired as an artist. Happens all the time. Look at Muhammed. He married and fucked a 9 year old (and I think she was related?), but to those that love him, the heinous sin is easy to overlook in favor of the religious narrative. I love Tarantino's movies and I appreciate his love of them, but I disagree with him often. Here's another one where I disagree for obvious reasons. I don't think he's the voice of Hollywood though. He certainly gets a way with a ton of racism, which is antithetical to everything the Hollywood corporate DEI policy would dictate.
