When I was young, I often caught grasshoppers in the garden with friends, and there was also an insect that was very similar to it, but I forgot what it was called. Haha, this is an interesting memory.

My guess is Schistocerca americana, also named American bird and American grasshopper.

This little creature appeared in my reading today. He was considered "clean" and you may eat them. I was surprised to read that they walk on four feet. Could that be right? But what about the giant legs at the back that act like springs to launch the creature into the air? Did you observe him walking on those, or was he just dragging them behind him? Did he walk on six feet or four feet?

Here is where I read this: Leviticus 11:21-23

Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth; Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind. But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you.
