I built simple tents over some of my vulnerable garden plants to give them cover and protection from the heat and scorching sun. I am trying to help them survive until better weather comes.

How could food crops, like wheat and corn, survive this extreme heat?  Building tents for farmland is not a sustainable way of feeding the world's population

If we need shade, we could grow shade.

Trees provide shade, but people could starve to death waiting for that source of shade to grow up. Here is one consequence of scorching heat:

a heatwave scorched India’s wheat belt this spring, leading to a smaller-than-expected 2022 crop.
