So he'd rather shoot up a school than just wait a few months to turn 18?

Suicide in a 17 year old without a terminal illness isn't a rational decision. But without gender affirming care, irreversible things would have been happening to them, and it's plausible that that affected their mental state.

Especially if they had been receiving care prior to March.
