WHen I was a kid in the 1960's and 70's there were signs in the mountains that read "Watch for Falling Rock" and a story behind it based on the song "Running Bear".

Is that really the mountain falling, or just the overburden sliding off the mountain's back?

Looks like they cut a road in without care for the angles involved ... like that mountainside is WAY too steep to have a road on it.

Made me think of that old Japanese film Kagemusha.

The lord is that mountain. Both in battle and at home, he is steadfast, like a mountain. When his army advances, first the horsemen attack, swift as the wind. Second, the lancers raise a forest of spears, advancing with silent resolve. Third, more horsemen engulf the enemy ranks, as mercilessly as fire. And the lord is always behind them, watching over them, immovable as a mountain. That is why our army, from general to foot soldier, can fight so resolutely... Immovable as a mountain. The lord is that mountain. So we call him "the mountain."

Thanks for sharing that. The past two nights I have had dreams with a Japanese theme, and now I am reading your comment. I guess I have not seen that film, but the quote relates to what the scriptures say of "the Lord." He is a man of war and he is the rock of our salvation. But Jesus said mountains can fall. If you have faith and do not doubt, you could command a mountain to fall into the sea, and it would obey you.

I think of some mountains as being obstacles we face in life and must overcome if we want to keep moving forward. We can pray against those obstacles and reach victory through faith.

Here in backwards Texas we do stupid things like sink anchors into the rock to stabilize the hillside when we cut a hill to put in a road.
