That seems like it's completely illegal from a fire safety point of view.

A fire breaks out in the school and the bathroom locks the kids in to die.

We need school reform. Kids shouldn't be forced to spend all day in a place they hate that doesn't actually teach them anything. They don't want to be there because it is a waste of time.

We should have school voucher programs so kids can go to better schools and good schools can kick out the shit students.

The college system is not a voucher program because you can only get free or reduced tuition to local state colleges, and you can't even go to universities with them. It is literally the same as other public schools.

You are confusing student loans with community College.

      That is a voucher system,

You keep saying this and it is completely wrong. A voucher is something you can take anywhere you want. To any PRIVATE or public school. In any state. Anywhere.

You can't take the funding your community College would get for your attendance and go somewhere else with it, and apply it to your tuition there.

That is what a voucher is.

You can't take a voucher anywhere. It has to be accredited.

Oh, look at you trying to split hairs. Why don't you just admit that you are wrong instead of making these absurd, bad faith arguments? Obviously the vouchers need to be used at schools. That doesn't support your claim at all. You can't take your community College funding to a different college because there is no voucher program.

They obviously have other funding like direct tuition payments, research grants, sports events.

Sure, grants (depending on stipulations) can be like vouchers. But they are not given to everyone. That is not the predominant system for government funded education.

I can transfer to another state school

Another disingenuous argument. A real voucher can be taken to a PRIVATE INSTITUTUON.

Kick them out, or make them do menial labor for the good of society (cleaning graffiti, picking up litter, etc.).

Or give them an opportunity to get a job.

Aussie schools install vape RAPE detectors in bathrooms to alert teachers, a silent alarm is triggered and LOCKS STUDENTS IN THE BATHROOM!!!

Australia has a pedo problem, and they installed a horror show upgrade.

That was the first thought that came to mind as I read that headline.

Wow, Australian are inventing things now.

They'll be walking on their hind legs soon.

Oh no. Australians schools were garbage 20 years ago. If you send your kid to a school here and there is a malfunction and your kid gets locked in a toilet, that is your fault.

Malfunction? Teens are going to intentionally set them off just to get other kids stuck there.

        [–]Anman 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I would consider that a malfunction of the parents decisions.

Maybe there is some new technology, but from what I know of smoke and trace gas detectors, which I've built a few, the only thing that can detect vapes, reflective laser sensors, are so sensitive that they will detect a high enough concentration of poop particles in the air.

They are likely installing fart detectors in school bathrooms, that cages kids...

        [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

That's what I was thinking. Even a hot shower can set off a shitty smoke detector. Anything sensitive enough to catch vaping is going to go off constantly.

Although a camera with "AI" can probably recognize it.

Vaping while under majority age is perfectly legal as long as there is no nicotine involved.

        It's against school policy.

Schools have gotten away with strip searching students before. I would bet that even if this is determined to be illegal there won't be any consequences.

Australians have shown themselves to be particularly pathetic in thier acceptance of humiliation and degradation at the hands of authority.

Teen vaping is clearly the single biggest problem facing us right now.

I don't know what the laws are in Australia... But here in the DBA United States of America... We have laws about certain doors that are supposed to remain unlocked during business hours for safety reasons...

And in a few years every one of those students will be a registered voter and want some paybacks.
